The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that they had uncovered in Kyiv a group of people who were trying to destabilize the situation by provoking clashes.
“The provocateurs totaling about 40 people, headed by a citizen of Ukraine, Serhiy R., had a criminal order to discredit peaceful public events in downtown Kyiv, namely at Independence Square and its vicinity,” said the SBU.
On March 22, officers from the SBU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine searched the premises leased by the organization “within one of the capital’s firms” and seized a “foreign-made pistol, 50 bullet-proof vests, 40 military helmets, similar to those used by the protesters on Maidan as well as ammunition for smoothbore and rifled weapons.”
“The offenders unlawfully collected personal data of Ukrainian citizens, including rally participants and representatives of NGOs,” said the SBU.
In turn, the director of the Center for Military Political Studies, Dmytro Tymchuk, wrote on his Facebook page:
“According to the information from the “Information opposition” group, the arrested leader of the provocateurs, Sergey Razumovskyy, was not an employee of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. There is information that this gentleman is with the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia”.
