Turchynov demands relaunch of anti-terrorist operation

Oleksandr Turchynov

Acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov is calling for law enforcement to resume anti-terrorist measures. He made the request in a statement posted on the website of the Verkhovna Rada on April 22.

Today near Slovyansk the bodies of two brutally tortured people were found. One of them was recognized at the missing deputy of the Horlivka City Council, a member of the Batkivshchyna Party, Volodymyr Rybak, who had been kidnapped several days ago by terrorists.

Terrorists, who in fact have taken hostage the entire Donetsk Oblast, have crossed the line and have begun to torture and kill Ukrainian patriots. They brazenly challenged not only our country but the entire world when they openly sneered at the decisions reached in Geneva.

These crimes are being committed with the full support and participation of the Russian Federation.

I call on law enforcement to restore and undertake effective anti-terrorist measures designed to protect Ukrainian citizens residing in Eastern Ukraine against the terrorists.

As has been reported, on April 13, the Security Service of Ukraine suspended the active phase of its anti-terrorist operations in connection with the Easter holidays and the agreements reached in Geneva.

On April 17, following the meeting of Ukraine-EU-USA-Russia in Geneva, several agreements were reached, including the freeing of seized buildings in Ukraine and the amnesty of militants advocating for the federalization of the country.
