Explosives at mines in the Donbas have been hidden underground, announced First Deputy Minister of Energy and the Coal Industry Yuriy Zyukov at a press conference on Thursday, May 29, as reported by Espreso TV, quoting LIGABisnesInform.
According to Zyukov, mines have two stockpiles of explosives: basic, kept on the surface, containing on average a seven-day supply of explosives, and reserves kept underground
“We have removed the supplies that were kept on the surface. All the explosives have been lowered underground,” he said. “However, despite this, the separatists in Lysychansk at the Pryvolnyanska mine came to the director’s office with weapons, placed the barrel of a machine gun to his chest and demanded that the explosives be brought to the surface. Moreover, in most cities in the Donbas, the miners and the mine directors have no one they can turn to: there is no police, no police chiefs, no security services that could protect us. We are placing hopes in our army, that it will be able to free the territory soon,” he said.
As reported earlier, gunmen had blocked the mines in the Donbas and demanded explosives.
