The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a gunman, who during his questioning told about the special training taking place at a field camp in Rostov-On-Don Oblast in Russia. According to the UNIAN News, which cite the Press Centre of the Security Service of Ukraine, one of the participants of the armed terrorist group – a Ukrainian citizen, who was attempting to leave the area of the ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation), was captured by the SBU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on the 26th of May on the territory of the Izumskiy district of Kharkiv oblast.
It is stated in the report, that a Kalashnikov machine gun AK-47 with under barrel grenade launchers, rechargers and bullets to it, shoulder-fired anti-tank weapon RPG-26 “Muha”, were confiscated from the detainee. According to the SBU, during his questioning, the convict said that he had undergone a combat military training together with Russian conscripts at a field camp situated on the territory of Roston-On-Don oblast.
At the camp, training was conducted by current employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate and Federal Security Service of Russian Federation. The name of one of the employees was Igor Bezler, also known as “Bes”, told the detainee. Together with him around 150 other men were undergoing the training at the camp, who were divided into 9 task forces headed by individuals who were experienced in the combat operations. During the training, future gunmen were prohibited from using mobile phones and the Internet. According to the detainee, the only thing they were allowed to watch, were the news programs on the Russian TV Channel “Russia 24”.
After the training, he and other participants were sent to the Donetsk oblast, with a task to carry out military operations against the National Guard Forces of Ukraine, as well as executing armed attacks on the checkpoints of the Ukrainian Military Forces, remarked SBU. Currently, appropriate investigative actions are conducted in regard to the detainee, highlighted the press centre.
In the meantime, according to the Press Service of the National Guard of Ukraine, the terrorists who earlier on shot down the helicopter that belonged to the Armed Forces of Ukraine under Slovyansk, were annihilated during the artillery shelling.
“In response to the actions by the terrorists, the forces of ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) have executed an artillery and aviation bombardment of the area from which shots were being fired. As a result – the group of criminals involved in the firing was annihilated” – states the report.
Around 12:30 (13:30 Moscow time) near Slovyansk, after the food and ammunition was unloaded at the fourth checkpoint, the Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the National Guard of Ukraine that was on its way back, came under fire by gunmen. “As a result of this incident, 12 people have died – 6 soldiers from the National Guard of Ukraine, including the crew, and 6 representatives of the Ukrainian Military Forces sub-unit. One of the soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine has remained alive and is now in a grave condition” – states the agency’s report.
Amongst the deceased – the head of combat and special training of the National Guard of Ukraine – Mayor General Serhiy Kulchytsky.
