The former president has issued another statement from Rostov-on-Don.
Today the Russian mass media published another text address from former president of Ukraine and fugitive Viktor Yanukovych. In his statement, he talks about bad signs for the early career of the new government in Ukraine and, in particular, new president Petro Poroshenko.
“This is a very bad sign: to start the course of the president with such bloody, deadly fireworks, evoking the anger and curses of mothers who see the deaths and suffering of their children, husbands, and fathers,” ITAR-TASS quotes Yanukovych as saying.
The former President asserts that he is very emotional over the murders in Donbas and is barely holding back tears.
“It is impossible to look at these horrible scenes without tears: a teenage boy, who was killed by mine shrapnel near the entrance to an apartment block, just a few steps from shelter; a son standing beside the corpse of his mother, killed by debris; bodies of people lying where they were overtaken by death. This is unbearable to see. The deaths, the hatred flaring up in the recently peaceful country,” writes Yanukovych about his feelings, while keeping silent about the fact that the majority of the murders in the East of Ukraine are happening because of terrorists financed by his associates.
Yanukovych stressed that after the election of the new President of Ukraine “there was a lot of surprise, or rather, shock. Instead of peace and stability, slaughter.”
“I have fresh in my memory the many negotiations for the peaceful settlement of the political crisis in Ukraine. These talks were held with leaders of the opposition, with representatives of European institutions, some member countries of the European Union, the US, the UN, NATO. Then, when radicals burned Berkut soldiers alive, killed policemen with live ammunition from February 18-20, the Europeans never tired of warning about the unacceptability of violence on part of the government,” Yanukovych recalls.
The former president completely ignores the fact that it was Berkut and other security forces and snipers who advanced on the peaceful protesters on his own orders and those of his associates, killing over 100 peaceful protesters and wounding hundreds more.
