Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has declared Oleh Sentsov, the Ukrainian film director that has been detained in Crimea, a “Right Sector terrorist”. This information was published on FSB’s official site.
The Russian FSB called Sentsov along with three other detainees (S. Afanasiev, A. Chyrniy, A. Kolchenko) a “subversive terrorist group” and accused them of preparing terrorist attacks in “Simferopol, Yalta and Sevastopol, and, following that, planning to destroy strategic objects like railroad bridges and power lines”.
The FSB tells that the film director and his “accomplices” were preparing detonations on the night of May 9 “near the Eternal Flame memorial and Lenin monument in Simferopol and planned to burn offices of the “Russian Community of Crimea” and United Russia party.
The indictment is expected to be announced to the detainees very soon. The FSB ensures that the “alleged criminals confirm Right Sector’s participation in the preparation of terrorist attacks in Crimea”.
As reported earlier, Oleh Sentsov, a famous Ukrainian film director, was accused of preparing and organizing a terrorist attack after testimonies of two strangers who claimed that he was their organizer. [All the accusations regarding the involvement of the Right Sector sound even more absurd, taking into account that another detainee, Arkadiy Kolchenko, is a well-known Ukrainian leftist and ecological activist – translator’s note.]
Oleg Sentsov was convoyed to a jail located in Moscow. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that it is undertaking efforts to arrange a meeting with Sentsov and confirms its readiness to provide the necessary aid.
