The northern Luhansk Oblast and the city of Krasnyy Lyman have been fully cleared of terrorists, the head of the presidential administration Serhiy Pashynskyy announced at a press briefing on June 5, as reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
According to Pashynskyy, the “first huge success” was fully clearing the city of Krasnyy Lyman of terrorists.
“This afternoon in Krasnyy Lyman there will be a civil administration that will begin to rebuild life,” he said. “We also have fully localized the situation in northern Luhansk Oblast, especially in 9 districts of Luhansk Oblast, which are completely under the control of Ukrainian state,” he said.
Meanwhile, acting President Oleksandr Turchynov has appointed Kostyantyn Mateychenko as acting chairman of the Krasnolymansk District State Administration (RDA) in the Donetsk Oblast, as stated in his decree “On the measure to create the Kransolymansk RDA in the Donetsk Oblast.”
The Cabinet of Ministers was asked to prepare and submit for review by the Verkhovna Rada the proposal to cancel the decision to merge the Krasnolymansk city and district councils. The decree states that it was issued in order to strengthen the protection of livelihood, law, and order on the territory of the Krasnolymansk district.
