Ukrainian Hostages Beaten, Tortured in Crimea

As the Ukrainian presidential website reported Thursday evening, Ukrainian Navy commander Serhiy Haiduk along with several hostages was released from detention by Russian forces in Kherson region. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had ordered the regional authorities to free the detained hostages and allow them safe passage out of the region. The hostages were revealed to be AutoMaidan activists, and 2 are currently hospitalized.

Hostages were kept in the basement of the Republic military office in Simferopol since March 9th; the same which was seized by 100 Russian troops the day prior. According to UNIAN, the hostages said they were not fed for four days, and that the first day was especially trying as they were not allowed to drink, or the use of lavatory, and were also beaten constantly. They could not see their abusers faces as their heads were covered with bags and taped. One activist, who was placed in solitary confinement, said that there was no place to sit down, and because the room was so damp, he attempted to sleep standing up. The lone exception of the group, 64-year old Anatoly Kovalsky, said that while he was not physically beaten, he was abused mentally. In his case, he alleged that his captors constantly humiliated him and interrogators were regularly rotated every 10 minutes. According to Kovalsky, the interrogators wanted to know why the activists were in Crimea, their source of funding, if they were attempting to disrupt the referendum, and whether they had connections to Crimean Tatars or the Right Sector organization.

The two who were hospitalized, Andriy Shevchenko and Yuri Schekun, were treated for bullet wounds from a traumatic gun. Reports claim they were shot in the hands, fingers, and feet. The Center for Investigative Journalism identified the captors as members of Aksyonov’s guard.

Cinematographers from Babylon’13 remain missing since March 16th.

AutoMaidan activists have in particular come under persecution from authorities over past months, with leader Dmytro Bulatov making international headlines after he was kidnapped, tortured, mutilated and crucified by who he described as Russians.

Crimean “Berkut” beat and looted their prisoners

The co-workers of the Crimean “Berkut” were beating and looting their captives on March, 9.

Kateryna, the wife of one of the detainees – Yevghen Rahno, told this to the Ukrainian newspaper ‘Ukrainska Pravda’. According to her, he is now on his way to Kyiv and has disclosed some details of the two days and nights he spent in the detention center via phone.

The statement does not include any clear commitments on the resignation of this pseudo-president, the dissolution of the Ukrainian Parliament whose inaction led to the escalation of conflict, the punishment of those responsible for law enforcement agencies and those who carried out the criminal orders that resulted in the deaths of about hundred Ukrainian citizens (particularly the immediate arrest of Acting Minister of Interior Vitaliy Zakharchenko, the leaders of the Berkut riot police leaders, and the snipers, and the dismissal of Oleksandr Yakymenko [the head of the State Security Service], Victor Pshonka [the Prosecutor-General], and Pavlo Lebedev [the Minister of Defence], followed by an investigation into their activities), a prohibition on the activities of the Party of Regions and the Communist Party of Ukraine, and safety guarantees to all participants in revolutionary action.

Charkiwer „Oplot“ und der eingetragene Verein „Für die Ordnung“

Eine einfache Kampfsportschule ist im Januar 2014 zu einem eingetragenen Verein geworden, dieser wird mit dem Oberbürgermeister von Charkiw, Gennadij Kernes, in Verbindung gebracht. Das erste Mal wird „Oplot“ in der Presse am 17. Januar erwähnt. Damals haben Autos mit den Sankt-Georgs-Bändern die Autos der Maidan- Aktivisten blockiert.

„Die Phantome von Sewastopol“ haben sich zum Anschlag auf einen Autoaktivisten aus Zhaporizhzhya bekannt

Im Internet ist ein Video erschienen, wo sich ein Anhänger der Volksarmee „Die Phantome von Sewastopol“ im Namen der obengenannten geheimen Organisation zum Anschlag auf einen Autoaktivisten aus Zhaporizhzhya bekannt hat. Er hat ziemlich detailliert den Mord beschrieben, mit Einzelheiten, die nur der Täter wissen konnte. Als den Grund des Mordes hat er die Rache an den Maidan-Sympathisanten genannt und noch weitere Anschläge angekündigt.

Heute ist das Video von Youtube wegen der „Verletzung der Urheberrechte“ gelöscht worden.

Wir erinnern uns, am 13.02.2014 ist in seinem Auto Sergii Seneka der Aktivist des Automaidan verbannt worden. Seine Frau hat ihn nur an seinem Ehering erkannt. Die Unbekannten haben gezielt in den Benzintank seines Autos geschossen.

1. Pavlo Masurenko
Hat den Maidan besucht. War auf dem Dach eines Kyiwer Kaufhauses von den Sicherheitsleuten angeblich wegen des Maidan zusammengeschlagen worden. Wollte nicht ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert werden. Starb am 22. Dezember 2013 in der Notaufnahme der Kyiwer Stadtklinik №12 an den Folgen der beidseitigen Lungenentzündung.

2. Yurij Werbytskyi
War der leitende Ingenieur der Abteilung der Seismologie der Karpatenregion des Institutes der Geophysik in Lwiw (Lemberg). Wurde am 21. Januar zusammen mit dem Aktivisten Ihor Lutsenko aus dem Krankenhaus entführt. Seine Leiche wurde am nächsten Tag im Wald in der Nähe von Kyiw gefunden. Er starb an den Folgen der Folterungen – seine Hände wurden hinter dem Rücken mit dem Klebeband verbunden und über dem Kopf eine Plastiktüte gezogen, die Beine wurden mehrmals gebrochen, die Knochen stachen heraus, der Rücken war blau angelaufen, die Rippen stachen auf der rechten Seite heraus, im Gesicht Schlagspuren. Die offizielle Todesursache – Unterkühlung.

We have recently awoken to the issue of new victims in the clashes with the usurping regime. This mutant regime’s violence damages not only the lives of our compatriots, but the ideal of peaceful democratic development in an independent Ukraine (1991-2013).

Resistance to the virus of fear is the key test of our solidarity.

The strategy of intimidation is not limited to the conspicuous violence of the Berkut riot police. Our immediate and distant futures are also denied to us. Our present is being severed from the freedom to which the two generations of the post-Soviet period are accustomed.

The quintessence of this experience are the days and nights of the last two months, the days and nights spent defending freedom on Maidan. This reality cannot be obscured or erased by smoke bombs. It is the source of courage.

Die Verkehrspolizei versucht Führerschein zu entziehen für den Maidan Besuch

Die Verkehrspolizei versucht, dem Leader der kleinen Oppositionspartei “Für Ukraine” Juri Zubko seinen Führerschein zu entziehen.

Dies berichtete der Ukrainska Pravda Parteiführer Viatscheslav Kirilenko.

“Dieses Auto fährt fortwährend zum Euromaidan und den Vladimrskij Spusk hinab, seit den Ereignissen am Hruschevskogo”, berichtete der Abgeordnete.

Laut Kirilenko wird Zubko unterstellt, er hätte die Aufforderung der Verkehrspolizei anzuhalten verweigert.

Nahe Zhitomyr wurde ein Bus mit Medikamenten für Maidan von der Polizei umgekehrt

Montag, 10 Februar.

In der Nacht auf den 10 Februar wurde von der Verkehrspolizei an der Zhytomirer Landstrasse ein Minibus eines Lviv AutoMaidan Aktivisten mit Medikamenten für Maidan angehalten.

Die Festnahme geschah 15 km weit vom Kyiv entfernt.

An den Festnahmeort sind Vertreter des Kyiver Automaidan Jaroslav Gontschar und der Abgeordnete der Svoboda Partei Igor Sabij eingetroffen.

Arrested Maidan Activist Tells a Shocking Story of Berkut Atrocities

I’ve been on trial for almost two weeks now as one of the ‘political’ cases, along with a lot of other people whose cases are being fabricated by the government in an attempt to prove to its electorate that all the dissidents who disagree with the pro-governmental politics are gangsters and garbage. However, this war of the government against its own people is a failure, both for the stupidity of their henchmen and the resolve of the true sons of Ukraine.

Being here in custody, I got acquainted with other ‘terrorists’ and ‘organizers of mass disorders.’ Their ‘criminal cases’ repeat themselves as if copied over by the same hand. People here are divided into the two groups: militants from Hrushevskiy Street and AutoMaidan.
