On Thursday evening, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law on the Facilitation of Access to Public Information.

Bill № 0947 “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine in connection with the adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On Information”(as amended) and the Law of Ukraine “On access to public information” was supported by 235 MPs.

These laws provide public access to the government and decisions made by local authorities. The bill introduces fines for “the unwarranted attribution of information to classified information, failure to respond to a request for information, failure to provide information, unlawful refusal to provide information, untimely or incomplete provision of information, and the provision of false information.”

Griechisch-katholischer Priester auf der Krim von pro-russischen Kräften entführt.

Die Entführung geschah am Samstag, den 15. März zwischen 10 und 11 Uhr morgens in Sewastopol auf der Halbinsel Krim, Ukraine. Bewaffnete pro-russische Kräfte entführten Pater Mykola Kwytsch, einen Priester der Unierten Griechisch-katholischen Kirche, direkt vom  Pfarrhaus der Mariä-Himmelfahrts-Gemeinde in der Silska-Straße 5 (in Höhe von km 5 auf der Straße nach Balaklava)

Pater Mykola wurde von zwei Männern in Uniform und vier Männern in Zivilkleidung abgeführt. Der junge Kaplan, der der Kirche als Militärseelsorger für die ukrainische Marine diente, wurde an einen unbekannten Ort gebracht und wird dort gefangen gehalten. Ein Mitglied seiner Gemeinde, das P. Kwytschs Mobiltelefon anrief, hörte gegen den Priester ausgestoßene Flüche, bevor die Verbindung wieder getrennt wurde. Berichten zufolge ist er noch am Leben.
