Er hat gerade die Krim erobert. Er hat sich selbst zum Einiger proklamiert. Aber Wladimir Putins Einmischung in die Wahlen ist ein weiteres Zeichen dafür, dass seine Macht nicht so bedingungslos ist, wie er gerne glauben macht

Nachdem wir aus dem Gefängnis freigelassen wurden, haben Mascha Aljochina und ich ernsthaft darüber diskutiert, ob wir uns in der institutionellen Politik versuchen sollten, und dachten nach über eine Kandidatur bei den Wahlen für die Moskauer Stadtduma nach (die am 14. September sein werden). Aber nachdem wir ein “schweres Verbrechen” begangen haben, dürfen wir nach russischem Recht 10 Jahre nicht bei einer Wahl kandidieren.

Ende letzten Monats kündigten Nikolaj Ljaskin und Konstantin Jankauskas ihre Kandidatur für die Moskauer Stadtduma an. Sie gehören zu den stärksten Oppositionskandidaten, und ich kenne sie seit Jahren. Sie wissen, wie man sich in einem guten Kampf stellt.

In seinem letzten “Sonntagsabend” war Solowjew [Journalist, TV-und Radiomoderator, Autor, Schauspieler, Sänger und sozialer Aktivist, der für seine loyale Haltung gegenüber der russischen Regierung bekannt ist – unter anderem unterschrieb er Ende Februar 2014 einen Appell “Wir sind alle Berkut” – ein Unterstützungsschreiben für die ukrainischen Berkut-Sonderpolizisten, die brutal gegen Maidan-Aktivisten vorgegangen sind – Anm. d. Übers.] an den Tiefpunkt angelangt: Experten, die die russische Intervention auf der Krim unterstützten, “diskutierten” mit “Opponenten”, die dieselbe Position vertreten haben.

A recorded conversation between Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet and EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Catherine Ashton in which Minister Paet says that he was told that the snipers on Maidan were shooting at both sides has surfaced on the internet. Some Russian media have falsified it as evidence that the snipers were hired by the opposition.

The “agreement” between Yanukovych and the “opposition troika” confirms that Maidan can no longer rely on Ukrainian politicians or Ukrainian politics. Deaths from the bullets of depraved killers acting on the orders of the bastards in “power” cannot go unpunished. Responsibility rests first and foremost with Yanukovych.

As such, any negotiations with him on anything other than the terms of his immediate resignation followed by [the establishment of] a national criminal tribunal are nothing but criminal. Those who negotiate with Yanukovych become accomplices to [his] crimes because a “settlement of the political crisis” is only possible when we have such a crisis. After so many deaths, this has gone well beyond any“political crisis.”

Akhmetov decides to support the new government in Ukraine

SCM Holding, owned by oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, deems it necessary to implement reforms in the country, introduce effective mechanisms for state administration, significantly extend powers of local authorities, and increase the transparency and accountability of the government to civil society.

This was announced in a statement from SCM.

“We believe that Ukraine has enormous potential. Like all Ukrainians, we strive to build a new country, where democracy and the supremacy of law to ensure the protection of property, free competition, and social security, will be established.”

SCM declares that it is ready for the introduction of a new, coordinated system, and to work within it. “Using all means available, we will promote the achievement of set goals for the prosperity of Ukraine,” the statement says.

SCM notes that the events of the last three months have become the most tragic page in the history of Ukraine, and together with the whole country it is mourning the fallen, expressing its deep condolences to their family and friends.

The fact is that the Parliament voted to diminish Yanukovych’s powers through a return to the 2004 Constitution, and that Yanukovych agreed to holding early elections in December 2014. This was the resistance’s agenda a month ago. Before the first human victims. Like the opposition leaders, Yanukovych is lagging behind in his understanding of the situation.

Listen to the people on Maidan. Basically, today we want Yanukovych’s head. Whoever brings it to Maidan will be declared a national hero. Tens of thousands of people will donate toward the bounty. Quite possibly a street will be named after him.

Opposition leaders said that they signed an agreement with President Viktor Yanukovych so that no more people died in armed clashes and so that Ukraine would not become divided.

“We signed the agreement so that the country wouldn’t become divided… so that we could save people’s lives… so that we could save our country,” Arseniy Yatseniuk told journalists as he left the Presidential Administration building. According to him, this agreement “entails early elections, Yanukovych loses his dictatorial powers, and there will be an international investigation.”

The President of the Freedom House David Kramer: The time has come for Yanukovych to make the right conclusion and resign

Today the president of the Freedom House David Kramer is a member of the informal «situational group» engaged into preparation of proposals to the American government on how to react to the current events in Ukraine. Kramer is a former Assistant of Secretary of State on Human Rights to Condoleezza Rice. He also worked at the Department of the European and Eurasian Affairs at the American State of Global Affairs. As a member of the team of Bush-young he has more radical views than the current administration. However, the proposals he makes eventually find their implementation in the actions of the current American government. Kramer was the first who called upon sanctions implementation already on December 3 of the last year, and in a month and a half, the government of the USA announced about first restrictions for the Ukrainian officials. Besides, the institute chaired by Kramer prepares yearly reports on freedom in the world that the US authorities use in their public argumentation of their policy on “problematic” countries. In his interview to “Ukrayinska Pravda” David Kramer makes his forecasts on next steps of the American government regarding Yanukovych and gives his advices on whom Washington has to focus its pressure on as soon as possible.
