Ende Mai (26-28.05.) war Oleksandra Bienert/Euromaidan Wache Berlin kurz nach den Präsidentschaftswahlen in Odessa und in Kiew und hat mit mehren Aktivisten und Journalisten vor Ort gesprochen (in Odessa vor allem zu den Ereignissen am 2. Mai) gesprochen. Anbei finden Sie einen Reisebericht sowie ein Foto des Gewerkschaftshauses in Odessa, welches am 2. Mai gebrannt hat.

A 12-year-old boy, called the Child of Maidan, exchanged his childhood for war




His photos have circulated throughout the world press. Meanwhile, in his homeland, he is still known as a juvenile delinquent. The 12-year-old Roma Saveliev is referred to as the Child of Maidan and the Ukrainian Gavroche. During the clashes in the center of Kyiv, he was breaking fiercely into the battle.

His current lifestyle is out in the open air, next to an old laptop. Over and over, he watches the videos of the brightest moments of his life: “When I am watching them, I am wondering when will this ever happen again.”

Two and a half months ago, these frames shook the world. A 12-year-old child in homemade armor, fighting not for life, but till death in the midst of gunfire and fumes from the tear gas. Continue reading

Stop Ethnic Violence in Sloviansk!

In Sloviansk, Eastern Ukraine, separatists began riots targeted at Roma residing in the city. The armed separatists burst into houses inhabited by Roma, beat and robbed them regardless of gender or age, UNIAN reports. According to this report, they have beaten even women and children. Separatists said that they operate under the direct order of their ‘people’s mayor Vyacheslav Ponomarev’. The armed men loaded the property of Roma families into a truck, eyewitnesses say.
