Ukrainian cheese makers are losing tens of mullions of dollars because of Russia

According to customs statistics, the export of cheese from Ukraine within five months of the current year constituted 13,6 thousand tons, while during the same period of the previous year its export constituted 23 thousand tons.

These numbers are a logical consequence of constant complaints on part of Russia about Ukrainian produce and the ban on cheese export for a number of Ukrainian dairies, says the association “Ukrainian Agricultural Business Club.”  Continue reading

Okean Elzy responds to St. Petersburg concert ban threat

Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, leader of the band “Okean Elzy,” has responded to accusations of nationalism. His response, written in Russian, is posted on his Twitter blog, Espreso.TV reports.

“Who do you think is a nationalist?” he asks. “If that is the person whose favorite writer is Chekhov, then yes, I am a nationalist. If it is the person whose favorite song was “Shine, shine my star,” then I’m a nationalist,” he writes. Continue reading
