Lviv – The Western border of Ukraine is being protected, the Eastern one, however, requires defence. However, according to experts, Ukrainian border service workers are unable to protect the borders by themselves. A small, shabby shop in the centre of Donetsk. There are practically no customers. I am greeted by the owner of the shop Petro, a smart phlegmatic middle-aged man.
“We are working more as security guards here,” he says almost in a whisper, even though there is nobody there to eavesdrop. “Recently, I have been coming here every day myself, to prevent anything from happening. They are not messing with us yet, what is the point? However, there is no point to mess with others either, but they still do it…”

When Oleg Liashko brought a cow to the Parliament, ate soil at the Verkhovna Rada booth and walked the city with a pitchfork, this was viewed as political extravagance – a trick that the smallest fraction of the electorate would fall for. However the results of the past elections prove that the main parliamentary rascal has a significant political perspective. The politician, who according to some experts, was under the patronage of Yanukovich’s team for the role of the oppositional clown, has already stepped out of this frame.
On June 2nd, a powerful explosion occurred near the Lugansk Regional State Administration, as a result of which several people died, including peaceful civilians, in addition the building of the administration was damaged, as well as adjacent territory. During this time a jet was circling the skies above the city, presumably a Su-25, which made at least one shot, which has been captured on video.
Moscow is complaining that the Ukrainian “defence people,” starting March of the current year, have stopped supplying spare parts to the Russian weapon producers.
As the Deputy to the Defence Minister of the Russian Federation Yuriy Borisov noted, such a position of Ukraine “adds to Russia’s problems” in servicing the equipment engaged in defence, in particular, helicopters, the engines for which were produced in Ukraine. Meanwhile Borisov noted that the process of import replacement is underway in Russia.

Kyiv – There are numerous instances of abuse of power regarding provision within the Armed Forces, which the commandment is trying to operatively solve. This was stated by the acting Minister of Defence Colonel General Mykhailo Koval during his report to the Parliament. He also admitted that the rear services have turned out to be unprepared to carry out new tasks which have raised during the anti-terrorist operation, however now the situation has been rectified. Meanwhile the Verkhovna Rada has not put up the issue of providing a state of emergency in Donbas for discussion.
Arkadiy Babchenko is a Russian military journalist, who has been in Donbas for a long time together with Ukrainian soldiers.
The separatists in Donbass consider him an enemy who stands “for the junta.” In Russia, it has been proposed to void his citizenship, Gosduma member have organised protests against the journalist, accusing him of liberalism. There are also calls to eliminate Babchenko.
The Ukrainian MFA advised Russia to send humanitarian aid to the Crimea instead of Lugansk and Donetsk Oblasts. This is how Ukrainian diplomats responded to the note their Russian colleagues sent earlier.
