Hashtag ‘Yarosh’s business card’ blows the internet away

On April 20, the hashtag #ВизиткаЯроша [Yarosh’s business card] set new records, becoming the most popular request of Russian and Ukrainian social network users. Internet users have ridiculed the Russian media’s claims that on Easter night Right Sector militants attacked a checkpoint in Sloviansk.

The Russian media report alleged that inside “the cars of pro-Russian citizens of Sloviansk burned by the militants,” in addition to guns and dollars, business cards of Right Sector leader and presidential candidate Dmytro Yarosh were found.  Continue reading

Right Sector to Become a Party and Yarosh for President

The leader of the Right Sector movement, Dmytro Yarosh, intends to run for president. The movement will become a party, Andriy Tarasenko, the chairperson of the Kyiv organization Right Sector, told Interfax – Ukraine.

“We are preparing for a congress, where the party will be renamed, and we go to the elections in Kyiv: in all local councils, towns and villages, which means that Dmytro Yarosh will run for president of Ukraine,” he said. Continue reading

Today, the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation has published information about opening criminal case against Dmytro Yarosh, the leader of Right Sector. The main investigative administration of the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case against the leader of Right Sector Dmytro Yarosh on grounds of crimes outlined in Art. 205.2 part 2 and Art. 280 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for realising terrorist and extremist activity with the use of mass media),” the statement follows. Maidan representatives outline their demands for the new government of Ukraine

Members of Ukraine’s “government of national trust” cannot be on the list of one hundred richest people in Ukraine, nor can they be executives within the acting government or employees of the presidential administration who have held these positions since 2010. These are [some of] the criteria established by [Maidan’s] “Circle of National Trust”, as set out in a statement by the Circle provided to Interfax-Ukraine. Other requirements include at least seven years of work experience, except for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defence, and five years of work experience in management positions. Candidates must also have nothing to do with human rights violations and there must be no information available linking them to any sort of corruption.

Dmytro Yarosh, leader of Right Sector, has been the least well-known figure over the past two months.  Just two weeks ago, only a narrow circle of people involved with organizing the Euromaidan even knew about the very existence of the sector and Yarosh.  Today, it’s impossible not to describe events in Kyiv without mentioning Right Sector.
