ICC Denied Ukrainian Declaration on Court’s Jurisdiction

1654356_236730523177424_598476588_nOn February 25, 2014 the Parliament of Ukraine issued a special declaration requesting the International Criminal Court (the ICC) to exercise its jurisdiction and hold ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and other high-ranking officials liable for the events that had happened during the Euromaidan in Kyiv.

Since as far as November 30, 2013 almost a hundred peaceful protesters (now referred to as “the Heaven’s Hundred” for their heroic sacrifice) were shot or beaten to death by the internal armed forces and special unit “Berkut”, and thousands were injured during the clashes in Kyiv. Continue reading

Mokridi: Zakharchenko is Already in Belarus

Interior Minister Zakharchenko fled to Belarus, says activist Tetyana Kokridi in her FB post. “Zakharchenko just crossed the Ukrainian-Belarusian border,” she writes.

Ukrainian Parliament reinstates 2004 Constitution, adopts draft law for Tymoshenko’s release, dismisses Minister of Interior

Ukrainian Parliament votes for reinstating 2004 Constitution

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Parliament) passed a law about the reinstatement of certain clauses of the 2004 Constitution of Ukraine (registration number 4163), by a constitutional majority vote. According to the UNIAN reporter, 386 out of 397 MPs registered in the session chamber, have supported this law. One hundred and fourty MPs from the Party of Regions, 89 MPs from Fatherland (Bat’kivshchina), 40 — from UDAR, 35 — from Svoboda (Freedom), 32 — from CPU (Communist Party of Ukraine), and 50 out-of-factions MPs have supported this decision. This law was voted for without the committee’s decision and at once for the basis and in general.  Continue reading

Hennadiy Hennadiyovych Moskal, Ukrainian politician, lawyer, MP, Lieutenant-general of police, and Batkivshchyna party member, named the parties responsible for the attacks on Maidan from the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The Security Service (SUB) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) implemented two special operations at Maidan on Tuesday, 18 February, which were launched by Acting Minister Vitaly Zakharchenko and Deputy Head of the Security Service Vladimir Totskiy.

According to Moskal’s press service, this was reported by the chairman of the Parliamentary Provisional Investigatory Commission on the Actions of Security Forces.

According to Moskal, the purpose of Tuesday’s operations–Surge by the MIA and Boomerang by the SUB–was to clean up Maidan, Ukrainian House, the House of Trade Unions, and the October Palace. Continue reading
